“The Conficker virus, which you might have heard was set to activate on April 1, didn’t destroy the Internet, melt computers or cause the sky to fall.

So what did happen? Not much — other than some extra publicity for a few security companies. We got our first update from the security team at Symantec late Tuesday night. Their report: “Most regions have already woken up to April 1 and … experts have not detected any additional activities.” No one seems to have noticed much of anything since then either, although Brian Krebs, who writes a security blog for the Washington Post, has ginned up some reports of nuclear missiles gone haywire, Iceland’s economic woes ending, and other Conficker-inflicted madness in an April Fools’ ode to the virus. “
