T-Mobile, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, will make a cash payment of about $1.6 billion for SunCom, which operates wireless networks in the southeastern United States and Caribbean. The acquisition will improve T-Mobile’s network coverage in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, T-Mobile said in a news release.

My personal comment on this:

Finally it appears we will get T-Mobile in North Carolina. I’m sure it will take some time to fully switch the services over but for those not familiar with T-Mobile let me say this, “CHEAP DATA PLANS”! T-Mobile just announced last week they were in fact dropping the price on most of their various data plans and even doing an email only BlackBerry for $10/month.

Far from an expertT-Mobile Wing™ on these plans and carriers anytime you get competition the consumer wins and with T-Mobile finally rolling out 3G the likes of Verizon will have no choice but to come up with some better service plans. This should be a huge win for businesses in Winston-Salem. T-Mobile also has some of the better phones especially for business use in my opinion.
